School daze

So.. I am trying to do school four days and work three days a week. This is become somewhat of a juggle. I have officially kissed a social life goodbye. Its been four years since I have been in college. One thing I can tell right away, I am definitely feeling my age. Sure, you may think 27 is young and it is. But compared to 18, 19 and 20. I am over the hill.
In my former college days I had more energy and stamina. Staying up late was not such a challenge. I could go without food for much longer and I fit in with the rest of the crowd easier.
This past 4 weeks have been a test of time management as well. Friday, Sat and Sunday I work at night in a restaurant serving rich clientele Manhattans and red wine. Wishing the whole time I could be in their place, driving home their Audi's, Mercedes or BMW's.
Ah, how refreshing to have a trust fund and not a care in the world. Needless to say I am quickly put back in my place as I return to work day in and day out.
Anyway, I am happy to be back to making art work on a regular basis. It is a little overwhelming sometimes but I feel confident that this is all a step in the right direction.

Creativity Strangled

I agree with this notion that we are constantly unaware of what is "legal" when it comes to using things from the Internet. There are so many times when making art that you reference a picture from google or any other search engine. Is this the same as plagiarising a sentence from an encyclopedia when writing a paper? Do you remember when we used encyclopedias. I just realized encyclopedias are obsolete now that we use Internet as our information source. Weird to think about that. Remember all of the info-mercials that sold whole editions of encyclopedias.
I remember when my mom would buy one volume at a time at the grocery store. I think it was each month they sold a different letter volume. This makes me laugh. I used them all of the time for pictures of animals or something to draw, or righting reports in middle school.

Anyway, back to copyright. I do think these "laws" should be changed in some way. I just can't say that I know how to change them.
Being that I am a photographer, and have been walking on egg shells in a sense when it comes to this copyright infringement, I understand where these laws are coming from. I would feel completely violated, and slightly flattered, if I saw one of my pictures being used and was not informed of it. I can't say that i wouldn't use some other picture that is out there on the web for my own artwork though.
I guess we all will have to find a middle ground.

The assignment in class this week was to create a warning label that portrayed something about our personality.
I made this one because there are times when I get very cranky if I don't get to eat when I am hungry.
